How does it feel having not won a single game in eleven matches? The feeling isn’t great and neither is there an iota of confidence left. But Sporting Clube de Goa coach Vishwas Gaonkar hasn’t lost hope yet.

The 'Flaming Oranje' have been in poor form from the beginning of the I-League and following the eight games played under Roy Barreto, the former Mohun Bagan Academy coach was sacked. It’s been a disgraceful fall for the Goan side given that they were the league leaders for most parts of the season and that finished third in the end.

“Last year, Junior was fully fit but he isn’t 100%. You can say he is half-fit. Nathaniel was at his best but he, too, hasn’t been fully fit. Apart from them upfront, there are no alternatives. I also had Luciano, who is at Salgaocar now, and he played an instrumental role in the side’s defence. Goalkeeper Felix D’Souza was in his best form. We are missing all of it.

“But I’m sure we will come out of this. We just need one victory, that one victory is so very important for us,” said Vishwas, who’s ironically means faith.

It’s not that Sporting have been playing awful. They have dominated several games but conceded goals at key moments of the match and thereby, failed to show anything for the efforts.

“Every time it’s happening that we give away goals. We have dominated certain matches like against Mahindra United, Churchill Brothers and JCT. Accepted that it was a bad loss against Dempo.

“It’s time for us to pick ourselves up and give our best against East Bengal,” added Vishwas on a positive note.

Sporting Clube De Goa face East Bengal on February 3 in Goa.
